When taken daily, it provides the required amount of folic acid as recommended by the World Health Organization (400mcg), in combination with optimal levels of other essential vitamins and minerals needed during this important stage.

Ensuring adequate folic acid intake is crucial, as it contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy*. The folic acid in Multi-Guard® Pregnancy is in the form of L-methylfolate calcium, which is the metabolically active (methylated) form of folic acid. This ensures effective metabolic support for all women, including those with an impaired ability to methylate folic acid due to MTHFR gene polymorphisms.

Additionally, each tablet provides 150μg of iodine, an amount aligned with the recommendations of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists regarding iodine intake during pregnancy. Adequate iodine intake indirectly supports the healthy intrauterine development of the fetal brain, as iodine contributes to normal thyroid hormone production and normal thyroid function*.

Despite the absence of iron and iodine, Multi-Guard® Iron Free is a comprehensive formula of vitamins and trace elements, providing 22 micronutrients at clinically adequate levels. Among these, particular emphasis is placed on the B-complex vitamins, which contribute to the normal functioning of metabolic processes involved in energy production, as well as vitamins C, A, D, and zinc, which support the normal functioning of the immune system*.

The form of 5-MTHF we chose to use is called Quatrefolic®, a clinically tested form with maximum absorption and bioavailability.

2. Vitamin B6 in the form of pyridoxal 5-phosphate (P5P): Pyridoxal 5-phosphate is the metabolically active form of vitamin B6 and is therefore directly used by the body, as it is immediately incorporated into metabolic reactions.

5. Cinnamon: Over the last two decades, numerous scientific studies have linked the active compounds in cinnamon to glucose metabolism. Multi-Guard® Sugar Control contains a high amount of standardized Cinnamomum cassia bark extract, as the majority of published studies have been conducted using this. The use of the bark extract is due to its content of metabolically active compounds. The extract contains no coumarin and is therefore suitable for long-term use without risk of interaction with coumarin-based anticoagulants.
