With great pleasure, we presented the book titled “Nutraceuticals – From Physiology to Clinical Practice” at the Hotel Grande Bretagne.
This book, a writing effort of over 4 years, is a comprehensive and in-depth review of the contemporary literature on the role of nutraceuticals in modern clinical medicine.
Specifically, it offers literature-based answers to how various food substances can help in the prevention and treatment of disease in ways that go beyond their nutritional properties. It contains the latest guidelines from international organizations, and the text is framed with a large number of diagrams, tables, and images, with the belief that they will contribute to a better understanding and assimilation of the biological mechanisms in which nutraceuticals are involved, from the level of physiology to clinical application. Additionally, special emphasis is placed on the safe clinical use of nutraceuticals, as ensured by knowledge of potential side effects and pharmaceutical interactions.
The main goal of this work is to serve as an important tool for Greek doctors, providing literature-based answers to questions that may arise from the use of nutraceuticals in everyday clinical practice or from the widespread use of nutraceuticals by the general public. In this way, we aim for it to be a significant addition to all medical libraries.
It is worth noting that the printed edition is accompanied by an access code to both the current electronic version of the book and all future updated electronic editions. This ensures that the book’s holder has continuous access to updated information, keeping up with the dynamic evolution of medical science.
