The study by Duntas et al (2003) examined the effects of selenium (Selenium 200μg, Lamberts) in patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) in combination with L-thyroxine (LT4). 65 patients were enrolled, divided into two groups: group I received 200μg of selenium daily and LT4, while group II received only LT4 with placebo. The treatment lasted 6 months. In the group receiving Lamberts selenium (Group I), anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO) antibody levels decreased by 46% at 3 months and by 56% at 6 months, while the decrease in Group II was 21% and 27% respectively. There were no significant changes in anti-thyroglobulin (anti-Tg) antibodies and thyroid hormone levels in patients receiving selenium. In contrast, patients receiving selenium reported improvement in mood and sleep. The study concludes that selenium may be used as an adjuvant therapy in autoimmune thyroiditis, possibly due to its enhancement of antioxidant defenses, although the exact mechanisms of action remain unclear.

The study published in the journal Magnesium Research in 2003 evaluated the bioavailability of three forms of magnesium: magnesium citrate (Mg citrate, Mag Asorb Lamberts), magnesium oxide (Mg oxide) and magnesium amino-acid chelate (Mg amino-acid chelate). The study enrolled 46 healthy adults who received 300 mg of elemental magnesium daily for 60 days in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled protocol. According to the results of this study, magnesium citrate showed the greatest absorption, with significantly higher serum magnesium levels after both acute (24 hours) and chronic (60 days) supplementation, compared to the other forms. A similar difference was described in the intracellular magnesium levels. The increased absorption of magnesium citrate was confirmed by increased urinary magnesium excretion after 60 days of use.

Colladeen®  Derma Plus is a clinically proven formula for the skin. Its clinical efficacy was demonstrated in a double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial conducted in 2012 by Aspen Clinical Research. The study enrolled 60 patients, men and women aged 45 – 70 years with Fitzpatrick skin phototype I, II and III, 30 of whom received placebo and 30 of whom received Colladeen®  Derma Plus (2 tablets daily for 12 weeks) The aim of the study was to test the efficacy of Colladeen®  Derma Plus administration on skin elasticity, wrinkling and minimal erythema.After 12 weeks the group taking Colladeen®  Derma Plus showed:

1. Statistically significant increase in skin elasticity as measured using the MPA® 580 Cutometer (Courage and Khazaka).
2. Statistically significant reduction in the depth of wrinkles in the “goose foot” area. The reduction in wrinkle depth occurred as early as the 4th week of administration and became statistically significant by the 12th week of administration. Wrinkle depth was measured using profilometry.
3. Statistically significant increase in the minimum erythema dose (MED, Minimal Erythema Dose). Measurement of MED by phototesting was for all patients enrolled in the study and was performed before the start and at the end of the study. To quantify the results, SPF (Sunburn Protecting Factor) was used as an index of sun protection and is equal to the ratio of MED with sunscreen use to MED without sunscreen use. The group receiving Colladeen® Derma Plus showed an increase in minimum erythema dose, which at the end of 12 weeks was on average 10 times the initial dose (SPF=10).

As part of the research protocol to correlate plasma vitamin D levels with factors associated with the development of cardiovascular events in adolescents and adults, the impact of oral vitamin D supplementation on metabolic parameters of metabolic syndrome patients was investigated. The protocol was carried out by the 2nd Pathology Clinic of the University Hospital of Ioannina and the vitamin D used was Lamberts (Vitamin D, 1000 IU, 2000 IU daily dose).One metabolic parameter recorded was the level of 8-isoprostanes (Oxidative Stress Index) in the urine of metabolic syndrome patients after administration of vitamin D. The results were striking as vitamin D administration was accompanied by a decrease in urinary 8-isoprostanes levels.In addition, all patients who received Lamberts Vitamin D showed a 91% increase in plasma 25(OH) Vitamin D levels.The announcement of the results at the 8th Panhellenic Congress on Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress (Thessaloniki, October 12-14, 2012) was accompanied by the award of the 1st prize for this work by the HELLENIC FREE RADICALS AND OXIDATIVE STRESS SOCIETY.

The study was conducted by the ENT clinic of the Nicosia Hospital with design and supervision by Professor Xeneli and concerned the investigation of the clinical efficacy of antioxidants (Multi Max , Lamberts S:1×1, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Lamberts, S:1×2) in patients suffering from idiopathic tinnitus. The study enrolled 70 patients with chronic idiopathic tinnitus .The entry criteria for the study included tinnitus overlap sound intensity (above 5 decibels) and THI Score (above 4). Prior to supplementation, the characteristics of tinnitus and the degree of impact on patients’ quality of life were determined by completing specific questionnaires. Subsequently, the patients were divided into 2 groups of which one group of 35 patients received the supplements and the other received placebo.After 3 months the patients were re-evaluated and the supplement group showed:

• Statistically significant reduction in tinnitus intensity
• Statistically significant reduction in the level of tinnitus overlap
• Improvement in the level of audibility at all frequencies
• Statistically significant improvement in patient quality as determined by the specific questionnaires

This study, which is currently being published, was conducted at the Sismanoglio Hospital in collaboration with the Pain Clinic of the Anaesthesiology Department and concerned the investigation of the clinical efficacy of palmitoylethanamide (Neurological, Lamberts) in patients with diabetic neuropathy and concomitant severe neuropathic lower limb pain. The study included 16 patients with diabetic neuropathy and concomitant severe neuropathic lower limb pain. The patients were divided into 2 groups of which one group was treated with pregabalin (Lyrica 75mg, dose: 1×3) and Zaldiar (dose: 1×3). The second group received the same medication with the addition of Neurological (dose: 1×2, total daily dose of palmitoylethanamide: 400mg). Re-evaluation of the patients on pain characters was done after 4 weeks. In this, the group taking Neurological showed a significant reduction in neuropathic pain. In contrast, the control group did not show a reduction in pain, which led to an increase in the dose of analgesic drugs.

The study published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine (2024) investigated the effects of quercetin (Quercetin) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). 100 patients were included, who were randomly divided into an intervention group (taking 500 mg of Quercetin Lamberts daily for 12 weeks, an 8-week break and re-administration for 12 weeks) and a control group.The study lasted a total of 32 weeks and examined the benefits of quercetin administration on glycosylated haemoglobin, blood pressure, PiKo-6 spirometer measurements, nightly sleep, anxiety and quality of life of the patients. At the end of the study, the group taking Lamberts’ Quercetin showed:

1. a significant reduction in glycosylated hemoglobin levels (-4%).
2. significant improvement:

– Respiratory function (FEV1 +5.6%)

– systolic blood pressure (-5%)

– quality of life (as determined by measurement of mental and physical health components)

According to the authors, these findings suggest that quercetin may be a complementary approach to primary care for the management of type 2 diabetes, enhancing both the biological and psychosocial characteristics of patients.
