{"id":8796,"date":"2017-03-16T13:48:40","date_gmt":"2017-03-16T10:48:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lamberts.gr\/?p=8796"},"modified":"2026-02-18T19:18:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T16:18:57","slug":"clinical-research-on-vitamin-d-conducted-at-the-university-of-ioannina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lamberts.gr\/en\/clinical-research-on-vitamin-d-conducted-at-the-university-of-ioannina\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Research on Vitamin D Conducted at the University of Ioannina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"574\">As part of ongoing clinical research, a scientific research protocol was conducted at the <strong data-start=\"369\" data-end=\"433\">University of Ioannina (2nd Department of Internal Medicine)<\/strong>, investigating the association between <strong data-start=\"473\" data-end=\"500\">plasma vitamin D levels<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"505\" data-end=\"547\">risk factors for cardiovascular events<\/strong> in adolescents and adults.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"576\" data-end=\"870\">The study, titled<br data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"596\" \/><strong data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"718\">\u201cAssociation of Vitamin D Levels with Risk Factors and Drug Use for Cardiovascular Disease in Adolescents and Adults,\u201d<\/strong><br data-start=\"718\" data-end=\"721\" \/>focused on evaluating the effects of <strong data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"792\">oral vitamin D supplementation<\/strong> on metabolic parameters in individuals diagnosed with <strong data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"869\">metabolic syndrome<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"872\" data-end=\"999\">The vitamin D supplement used in the study was <strong data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"953\">Vitamin D 1000 IU by Lamberts\u00ae<\/strong>, administered at a daily dose of <strong data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"998\">2000 IU<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1001\" data-end=\"1194\">One of the metabolic parameters assessed was the level of <strong data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1077\">8-isoprostanes<\/strong> in urine, a well-established <strong data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1140\">biomarker of oxidative stress<\/strong>, measured before and after vitamin D supplementation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1196\" data-end=\"1420\">The results were particularly noteworthy, as vitamin D administration was associated with a <strong data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1333\">reduction in urinary 8-isoprostane levels<\/strong>, indicating a decrease in oxidative stress among participants with metabolic syndrome.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1741\">The findings were presented at the <strong data-start=\"1457\" data-end=\"1525\">8th Panhellenic Conference on Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress<\/strong>, held in Thessaloniki from <strong data-start=\"1553\" data-end=\"1575\">12\u201314 October 2012<\/strong>, where the study received the <strong data-start=\"1606\" data-end=\"1625\">1st Prize Award<\/strong> from the <strong data-start=\"1635\" data-end=\"1693\">Hellenic Society of Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress<\/strong>, in recognition of its scientific contribution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of ongoing clinical research, a scientific research protocol was conducted at the University of Ioannina (2nd Department of Internal Medicine), investigating the association between plasma vitamin D levels [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":8799,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_price":"","_stock":"","_tribe_ticket_header":"","_tribe_default_ticket_provider":"","_tribe_ticket_capacity":"0","_ticket_start_date":"","_ticket_end_date":"","_tribe_ticket_show_description":"","_tribe_ticket_show_not_going":false,"_tribe_ticket_use_global_stock":"","_tribe_ticket_global_stock_level":"","_global_stock_mode":"","_global_stock_cap":"","_tribe_rsvp_for_event":"","_tribe_ticket_going_count":"","_tribe_ticket_not_going_count":"","_tribe_tickets_list":"[]","_tribe_ticket_has_attendee_info_fields":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[559],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8796","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.4 -
