Bromelain<\/strong> is an enzyme derived from the stem of fresh pineapple. It is widely known as a digestive enzyme, as it helps break down meals that are high in protein and fat.<\/p>\n

However, recent studies have also highlighted non-enzymatic actions<\/strong> of bromelain, which appear to resemble those of curcumin<\/strong> (the main active compound in turmeric). For this reason, bromelain is often taken alongside turmeric supplements.
